iGaming Academy offering free Covid-19 readiness training

iGaming Academy, a training provider owned by Conexus Group, is offering free e-learning courses to help gaming businesses make themselves ready to tackle the effects novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

The courses, delivered in partnership with Clarion Gaming's Totally Gaming Academy (TGA), will be updated regularly to reflect changes in the global situation with regards to the Covid-19 pandemic. Through the courses, iGaming Academy aims to address the key question of how to prepare a safe working environment for staff to return to.

It will do this by introducing employees to clear procedures and best practices around Covid-19 prevention, based on guidelines issued by the World Health Organisation, Centres for Disease Control & Prevention, the European Centre for Disease Prevention & Control, and the Health and Safety Executive, as well as recommendations from industry-specific associations.

“These free courses will be regularly updated to ensure that employees are continually provided with the knowledge and guidance required to uphold necessary protective measures as the pandemic evolves.”

The launch of the new readiness courses follows an agreement struck between TGA and iGaming Academy in March. This aims to bring TGA's classroom expertise online, supported by iGaming Academy's e-learning expertise.

Andrew Spencer, head of education & training at Totally Gaming Academy, said: “Our aim is to help support land-based casinos, retail betting shops and corporate office environments get back to work safely.”

The courses will be made available for free for up to 50 employees per company for new iGaming Academy customers. They will also be available for existing customers that are using iGaming Academy’s Learning Management System under contract.

With the return of live sport and reopening of brick-and-mortar gaming venues, the industry is currently working to ensure a successful resumption of operations following Covid-19 lockdowns in a number of markets.

However, the sector is expected to take a significant hit from the pandemic, according to iGB's principal data partner H2 Gambling Capital. Gross win for the global gaming industry is forecast to be down 21.7% from H2's original full-year projections for 2020. With quarantines and lockdowns around the world beginning to ease, land-based businesses are now focused on allowing a safe return to business for staff and customers.
