European casinos: How has the experience changed upon reopening?

| By iGB Editorial Team

When European casinos reopened, they were often subject to capacity limits and even restrictions on operating hours – leaving some wondering whether it was appropriate to welcome back customers.

Laurent Lassiaz of JOA Group and Casino Helsinki’s Tiina Siltanen agree that the ongoing restrictions have significantly reshaped the casino experience. Lassiaz, for example, points out that JOA’s venues have had to take a quarter of their gaming positions offline in order to reopen safely.

In both Finland and France, the early stages of recovery have seen the most loyal customers return, while the casual customers, due to entertainment and amenities remaining out of commission, are yet to return. However as social distancing measures are eased across Europe, both remain confident that this demographic will return in due course.
