Webis has revealed that its WatchandWager advanced deposit wagering (ADW) business has secured a licence from the New York State Gaming Commission. The licence, which will be renewable annually, allows WatchandWager to accept registrations, deposits, and wagers from residents of the US state. Confirmation of the licence comes ahead of this year’s Belmont Stakes, a major US horse racing event that will take place at Belmont Park in New York on June 10. In a statement, WatchandWager said the licence approval will mean it is now live in two of the country’s most active horse racing markets in the form of New York and California. WatchandWager said the two states represent over 40% of the total licensed US pool betting market, which is worth more than $10bn (€8.9m) per annum. Ed Comins, president of WatchandWager, added: “The expansion of our licenses to include New York means that WatchandWager is now available to our players in the two most populous states that allow Advance Deposit Wagering. “We look forward to giving them the very best deal on the best horse racing from the US and around the world.”
