Evolution at centre of employee legal row

Seven Turkish employees at Evolution Gaming are taking the firm to court over claims they were told to accept lower-paid jobs in Georgia or leave the company. The legal challenge refers to the firm’s Evolution Malta Limited Business, which serves customers from various countries. The employees at the centre of the row had been working with Turkish-speaking clients, but according to Malta Today, were told that this would no longer be the case and they would instead be transferred to the firm’s Georgia facility. However, the staff in question said that such a move would mean they would be paid at the same rate as employees in Georgia, which is “much less” than staff at the Evolution Malta site. The judicial protest also claims that if staff were not willing to accept this deal, then they were free to leave the company and seek alternative employment. Staff described the move as “entirely abusive and illegal” and said the company would be held responsible for damage to their livelihoods. iGamingBusiness.com reached out to Evolution Gaming about the issue, but the company said it was unable to comment “as it is an ongoing legal matter.” Evolution Gaming has enjoyed significant expansion recently having earlier this month become the first company to open a purpose-built live casino promotion studio in the US as part of ongoing growth plans in North America. The firm has also announced a new partnership with the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on the back of reporting financial growth in the first half. In the six months to June 30, Evolution saw operating revenues rise by 35% to €110m (£98.7m/$128m), with EBITDA up by a similar amount to €48m.
