Cards continue to be the preferred payments by US customers, followed by bank transfers and PayPal, says Trent Striplin, director of customer finance for FanDuel. PayPal’s popularity grows the seamlessness of not having to enter the banking info.

There are still banks that don’t accept the merchant category codes for gambling, which continues to be the biggest challenge in the US payments ecosystem. This also creates more scope for cooperation with banks, not just the cards, like Visa or Mastercard.

The card companies are currently the main partners operators talk to in order to address the issue of interrupted customer flows in case of payment attempts via those issuing banks that don’t take gambling merchant codes.
